BlogF1 is on a short hiatus. I envisage everything returning to normal by August. Thank you to everyone who's emailed/messaged me - it means a lot.

Over the years Formula One teams have pitched their cars against some of the world’s most formiddable, and on occasion, fiercesome machines. The most common battle is associated with the car manufacturers who supply engines to the motor sporting world, and these companies will sometimes race an F1 car against a fast road-going car and a small hatch-back or similar. Let’s take a look at some of the vehicles Formula One drivers have found themselves racing against.
The forty-eighth photograph to feature in BlogF1’s caption contest. You know the drill, think of something funny and witty to say and leave it as a comment below. It’s been a couple of weeks since the last Caption Contest post, so what better way to get back into blogging than with #48. Here’s a classic [...]
Last week I essentially closed BlogF1 and posted a note to the top of all pages on the site. The message is still there as I type this, but for future reference, it basically says that I am on hiatus until August. I appreciate however, that no explanation or reason was given, and for those [...]

BlogF1 has been neglected over the weekend, but for good reason. On Friday I drove up to Goodwood in Chichester to visit the Festival of Speed - an annual celebration of fast cars and brave drivers. Among the exhibitions and hillclimbs there were many Formula One stars and cars from both last year and many [...]
The second day of testing at Germany’s Hockenheim circuit test finished earlier and once again it was Lewis Hamilton who took the top spot ahead of Nico Rosberg’s Williams and championship contender Kimi Raikkonen. The Briton went 0.4s faster than the German, who was in turn 0.04s ahead of the Finn. McLaren reverted to the [...]
Lewis Hamilton has lead the field today at the pre-German Grand test at Hockenheim. With his McLaren MP4-23, the British Grand Prix winner went fastest and sported the now common finned-engine cover, much like Renault, Force India, Red Bull and Scuderia Toro Rosso cars. The session was stopped for a while due to heavy rain [...]
In an act of quite unbelievable honesty, the likes that Formula One rarely sees (and probably promotes that statement above the necessary because of it) Heikki Kovalainen has laid the blame for his lack of winning at Silverstone on his own shoulders. Speaking after the rain-sodden grand prix, Kovalainen said that his rear tyres were [...]
Since the test at Silverstone last week, McLaren have looked strong. Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen appeared to have a small margin over their long-term rivals Ferrari, and given that BMW fell off the wagon at the last race in France, the Woking-squad were naturally buoyant going into the race weekend. Ferrari, on the other [...]
